Google is gearing up for its next big hardware showcase with the ‘Made by Google’ event officially set for August 20 in New York City. The tech giant will unveil its latest Pixel devices, including the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and potentially a new Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
The launch event will also feature updates to the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds lineup. Google will stream the event live on YouTube at 1 PM ET.
The ‘Made by Google’ event is Google’s annual launch, similar to Apple’s WWDC and Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked. Each year, the company introduces major upgrades across its Pixel ecosystem, including smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds, and smart home devices.
The 2025 edition is especially significant as it marks the debut of Android 16 and Google’s next-gen Tensor G5 chip. The Pixel 10 lineup will take center stage at the event, with three models expected: Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and a rumoured Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
For the first time, even the standard Pixel 10 may get a triple-camera setup, a feature previously exclusive to the Pro versions. This includes a 64MP main sensor, ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto lens with up to 50x digital zoom.
The devices are expected to come with 12GB to 16GB of RAM, depending on the model, and be powered by the new Tensor G5 chip, which uses TSMC’s advanced 3nm process.
This upgrade promises better battery efficiency, thermal management, and overall performance, even though the chip might rely on slightly older CPU cores.
While early benchmarks showed Pixel 10 prototypes running Android 15, Google is expected to ship all new Pixel devices with Android 16 pre-installed. The update will likely bring improvements in AI features, multitasking, privacy controls, and deeper integration with Google’s services.
Design-wise, the Pixel 10 series is expected to retain the horizontal camera bar seen in Pixel 9 models. Leaks suggest only minor design changes, focusing more on functionality than aesthetics.
One interesting detail: a mystery sensor below the flash could be included, with speculation pointing toward a temperature sensor, similar to what was seen on the Pixel 9 Pro. If true, this could allow features like skin temperature monitoring or basic thermal scanning.
Alongside smartphones, Google may also launch:
- Pixel Watch 4 – expected to have a larger battery and a slightly thicker body for improved performance and health tracking.
- Pixel Buds 2a – rumored as a new budget-friendly wireless earbuds option.
While not much is known about the Buds yet, they may focus on affordability and improved mic/audio quality for calls.
This year’s event is shaping up to be Google’s biggest hardware launch yet. With a renewed focus on AI, performance, and ecosystem integration, the Pixel 10 series could position Google more competitively against Samsung and Apple.
The addition of features like a triple-lens camera on the base model, Android 16, and a possible foldable Pixel Pro could appeal to both everyday users and tech enthusiasts.
The Made by Google 2025 event will be streamed live on YouTube at 1 PM ET on August 20. Viewers can expect a deep dive into the new Pixel phones, wearables, and accessories, all while experiencing the latest from Google’s design and engineering teams.
