On-paper Specifications vs Real Life Performance

Apple launched the MacBook Air M1 in 2020, and if you look at the specifications in comparison to the newest MacBook Air M4, you’ll definitely think of buying the new one.

Yes, M4 is twice as fast as M1, but if you are buying your first MacBook and you don’t do any serious heavy tasks, then M1 is enough.

The base version of MacBook Air M1 comes with a 13.3-inch IPS retina display, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD storage, Touch ID, and the main hero M1, an 8-core CPU with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores.

The specifications might seem on the lower end for some people, especially if you’re looking for gaming laptops. But if you’re into content creation, then M1 Air is still a great deal.

MacBook Air M4 vs M1

Apple MacBook Air M4 is an exponential upgrade in comparison to M1 Air, as it has 2x faster performance, and every other aspect is somewhat fine-tuned.

The cheapest one and the base version of M4 Air now features 16GB RAM, which is a great deal for everyone, and this can be one reason not to go for the M1 Air.

The 13-inch MacBook Air M4 currently retails at around ₹90,000 to ₹95,000 on Amazon, and it’s definitely pricier than the M1 Air.

So the conclusion is, if you’ve a higher budget, then you should buy the latest one, and if you just need a great machine at a discounted price, then go with the MacBook Air M1.
