Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup may arrive with higher price tags this year, with analysts suggesting that new tariffs on China and India could be a major factor. The potential increase is estimated to range from $50 to $100, making this one of the more notable price jumps in recent iPhone history.
Analysts Predict Higher Prices
According to Jeff Pu, an analyst at GF Securities, Apple is likely to raise prices for the iPhone 17 series in 2025. While product price increases are not new in the smartphone industry, Pu believes tariffs will play a larger role this time.
Traditionally, companies have raised prices due to factors such as fluctuating currency exchange rates, higher research and development costs, and increased raw material expenses. In this case, however, tariffs imposed on imports from China and India, two key iPhone manufacturing hubs, are expected to have a direct impact.
The Tariff Factor
Apple currently produces a significant portion of its iPhones in both China and India. These countries have been hit with steep tariffs, which could translate into higher retail prices for customers worldwide.
Wall Street analysts estimate that this could push prices up by $50 to $100, depending on the model. While not a dramatic jump for premium smartphone buyers, it continues a steady upward trend in iPhone pricing over the years.
Possible Storage Changes
Earlier reports have also hinted that Apple might increase the base storage of the iPhone 17 Pro to 256GB, matching the Pro Max model. While this would be a welcome upgrade for users, it could further justify a price increase of around $50 compared to last year’s equivalent model.
Long-time Apple fans will remember when the first-generation iPhone launched for $500 back in 2007, a price point that now feels like a distant memory.
Expected Launch Timeline
While rumors suggest a September 2025 unveiling, with some speculating on dates like September 9 for the announcement and September 12 for pre-orders, Apple has not officially confirmed any launch details. If the company follows tradition, September remains a likely window, but we’ll have to wait for an official statement.
In addition, this year’s lineup is expected to undergo a shake-up. Reports claim that Apple will drop the iPhone Plus model and replace it with a slimmer, ultra-thin version called the iPhone 17 Air.
With potential design changes, storage upgrades, and tariff-driven price increases, the iPhone 17 series could be one of Apple’s most talked-about launches in recent years.
