In a surprising turn of events, fresh leaks claim that Apple is actively working on a foldable iPhone.
The leaks, first reported by multiple tipsters on Weibo and corroborated by analysts tracking Apple’s Asian suppliers, tell that Apple is testing at least two foldable prototypes- one with a clamshell (flip-style) design and another with a book-style, like the Galaxy Z Fold.
The prototypes reportedly feature OLED displays developed in collaboration with Samsung and LG, with screen sizes from 6.3 inches to over 8 inches when fully expanded.
Foldable iPhone Launch Date
It was earlier believed that Apple would launch this product in 2025 only, but now sources claim that Apple will delay the launch.
It is said that these products will be launched in late 2026 or early 2027 to refine the hinge mechanism and ensure durability.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo added that the Cupertino-based giant “does not want to compromise on quality just to be first.” So there’s a delay in the launch of the Foldable iPhone.
Competitive landscape
Now, Samsung, OnePlus, and Google have expanded their foldable lineups, so it is the first entry of Apple in this segment.
Samsung is going to launch its Galaxy Z Fold 7 this year and Google is also working on its Pixel Fold 2 with major AI integration.
Apple is also set to enter this market and raise the bar in terms of design, and performance.
Foldable iPhone Features
If we talk about sources, then this new product will have:
- New iOS UI enhancements tailored for dual-screen and multi-tasking.
- A redesigned Apple pencil which is accessible with a foldable screen
- Under- display face ID and touch ID for seamless unlocking
- Self- healing screen layer to resist scratches and minor dents
It is also in the news that it features Titanium edges, USB-C support, a 120Hz ProMotion display, and also good battery.
It is more than a concept — it is a product in active development. Apple’s entry into foldable phones will redefine industry standards and user expectations.
