BSNL has officially rolled out its 4G services in Delhi, marking a significant step forward for the state-owned telecom operator. The launch was timed with India’s 79th Independence Day celebrations, giving customers in the capital access to faster data speeds and improved calling services.

With this rollout, new BSNL customers in Delhi can now enjoy seamless 4G connectivity for both voice and data using BSNL SIM cards on compatible devices.

The service is being offered under a 4G-as-a-service model through a network-sharing agreement with a partner, ensuring immediate access while the company continues to build its own indigenous 4G infrastructure.

How to Access BSNL 4G in Delhi

Customers in Delhi can get started by obtaining a BSNL SIM card and completing the eKYC process at BSNL or MTNL service centers, as well as at authorized retailers. This makes it simple for new users to join and start using the high-speed network without delays.

According to BSNL CMD A Robert J Ravi, the launch ensures that Delhi residents experience faster data speeds and clearer calls, bridging the gap while BSNL continues its full-scale 4G expansion across India.

BSNL’s Nationwide 4G Expansion Plan

BSNL has committed an investment of ₹25,000 crore toward its 4G expansion project, which includes the installation of one lakh mobile towers. This is part of a larger plan, with an additional ₹47,000 crore set to be invested in enhancing and expanding network infrastructure nationwide.

This dual strategy allows BSNL to bring 4G connectivity to underserved areas while simultaneously preparing the ground for its future 5G rollout.

Anti-Spam and Anti-Smishing Protection for All Users

Alongside the 4G launch in Delhi, BSNL has begun the nationwide rollout of its Anti-Spam and Anti-Smishing system. This advanced security solution is designed to protect mobile users from deceptive text messages containing malicious links.

The system uses AI, machine learning, natural language processing, and URL expansion technologies to detect threats in real time.

Suspicious messages are blocked at the network level before they reach customers, while legitimate communications like bank alerts, OTPs, and government notifications continue to pass through as per TRAI guidelines.

How Effective Is the Protection?

Developed in collaboration with Tanla Platforms, the system has already shown strong results. According to BSNL, it detects over 1.5 million scam messages daily, flags more than 35,000 malicious URLs, and identifies around 60,000 fraudulent mobile and WhatsApp numbers every month.

For customers, this means an added layer of security that works automatically, without the need to install any third-party apps or tools.

The launch of BSNL 4G in Delhi and the nationwide anti-spam protection underline the company’s commitment to delivering faster, safer, and more reliable connectivity. With its heavy investment in network infrastructure and AI-driven security, BSNL is positioning itself as a strong player in India’s telecom landscape.
