Vivo is gearing up to launch its latest 5G smartphone, the Vivo Y400 5G, in India on August 4. This upcoming handset will join the Vivo Y400 Pro 5G, which made its debut in June this year.

With teasers and leaks already painting a detailed picture, the Y400 5G is shaping up to be a promising mid-range option with a stylish design and modern features.

Let’s take a look at everything we know so far about the device, from launch details and pricing to design, specifications, and standout features.

The official launch for the Vivo Y400 5G is scheduled for August 4. While it’s not confirmed whether it will be a soft launch or a livestreamed event, Vivo fans can expect updates across Vivo’s website, YouTube, and social media platforms. The brand is actively teasing key details, hinting at a focused promotional push ahead of launch.

While Vivo hasn’t announced the official price yet, reports suggest the Y400 5G will be priced below ₹20,000, placing it in the affordable mid-range segment. It is expected to sit below the Y400 Pro 5G, which starts at ₹24,999.

Once launched, the phone will likely be available on Flipkart, Amazon, and Vivo India’s online store.

The Vivo Y400 5G will launch in two elegant colour options: Glam White and Olive Green. The phone features a pill-shaped dual-camera module and a ring-style Aura Light on the rear. The white variant is teased with a textured back finish for a premium feel.

With IP68 and IP69 ratings, the phone offers dust and water resistance, a rare feature in this price range. It is said to be 7.90mm thick and weigh around 196 grams, making it relatively sleek and manageable.

The device is expected to come with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display boasting a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,800 nits peak brightness. Other expected display highlights include 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and a 91.9% screen-to-body ratio, making it a visual treat for streaming and browsing.

Under the hood, the Vivo Y400 5G is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, coupled with 8GB RAM. The handset is expected to run on Android 15-based FuntouchOS 15, offering a smooth and responsive experience.

AI-powered features are expected to play a big role, with tools like Circle to Search, AI Captions, AI Document Reader, AI Notes Summary, and AI Transcript Assist enhancing productivity and user interaction.

The rear of the Vivo Y400 5G is tipped to house a 50MP primary camera with a Sony IMX852 sensor, accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor.

The inclusion of an Aura light should improve low-light portrait photography. The selfie camera will be housed in a hole-punch cutout at the front, though its exact megapixel count is yet to be confirmed.

With its premium design, AMOLED display, water resistance, and AI-backed software, the Vivo Y400 5G aims to bring flagship-like features to the mid-range segment. If Vivo manages to keep the price below ₹20,000, this could be a strong contender in the budget 5G space.
