Motorola is reportedly gearing up to revive its iconic Moto 360 smartwatch in 2025, marking a significant return for the brand in the wearable tech space.
The Moto 360 was one of the first smartwatches to popularize the circular display when it debuted in 2014, and now, a fresh iteration is set to hit the market with modern upgrades and a nostalgic touch.
The Moto 360’s legacy dates back to the early ‘Android Wear’ era, where its unique circular screen and stylish design set it apart. While it faced some criticism for the “flat tire” display cutout, the watch became a fan favorite for its looks.
Motorola followed up with second and third-generation models, the latter developed by Canadian firm eBuyNow under license. However, the brand eventually pulled the plug, until now.
According to leaked renders and reports, Motorola is taking the reins again for the 2025 reboot.
The upcoming Moto 360 (2025) is expected to retain the round dial but introduce a refined body design. A rotating crown at the 2 o’clock position and an additional button at 4 o’clock add functional elegance to the watch. This layout closely resembles that of the OnePlus Watch 3 and gives users a more tactile interface.
Design-wise, the smartwatch will reportedly be available in five brushed-metal finish color variants, giving users more personalization options. The lugs are said to be flatter and cleaner than previous versions, offering a sleeker wrist presence.
Where things get even more interesting is the software. Motorola is reportedly planning a dual-OS setup, potentially combining Wear OS by Google with its in-house Moto Watch OS (RTOS).
This hybrid approach may help improve performance and battery life while maintaining compatibility with Google’s app ecosystem. The UI shown in leaked images hints at Wear OS styling, but final details remain uncertain.
The previous Moto Watch Fit also ran on Moto Watch OS, so Motorola seems keen to continue exploring this real-time OS approach. If done right, it could balance lightweight operation with smart features like notifications, health tracking, and more.
Motorola’s comeback in the smartwatch arena could appeal to nostalgic users and those seeking a stylish, performance-focused wearable. Stay tuned for the Moto 360 (2025) smartwatch launching soon.
