Google has unveiled its latest Pixel Watch 4 alongside the new Pixel 10 series smartphones and Pixel Buds 2a. The Pixel Watch 4 stands out as the company’s biggest smartwatch upgrade yet, introducing a domed 360° display, longer battery life, and satellite connectivity, a feature Apple is still working on for its upcoming Apple Watch Ultra 3.
Redesigned Display and Performance Boost
The domed display is physically curved, giving the Pixel Watch 4 a 10% larger active display area and 16% slimmer bezels. It also delivers 50% better performance in sunlight, making outdoor use more comfortable.
The watch is powered by the Snapdragon W5 chip paired with an ML-powered co-processor for improved efficiency.
Google has also upgraded the haptic engine, offering stronger physical feedback and extended battery life, up to 30 hours on the 41mm version and 40 hours on the 45mm version.
The device is built with an aluminum frame, covered by custom Gorilla Glass, and offers improved repairability with replaceable display and battery options.
Emergency Satellite Support
A major highlight is the addition of satellite connectivity on the LTE version. This feature allows users to contact emergency services even in areas without Wi-Fi or cellular coverage, marking a first for smartwatches.
Apple is rumored to bring a similar feature to the Apple Watch Ultra 3 later this year, but Google has beaten them to market.
Smarter Health and Fitness Tracking
The Pixel Watch 4 comes with more accurate sleep tracking, an improved skin temperature sensor, and dual-frequency GPS for precise route monitoring.
Google also introduced a new AI-powered personal health coach, using Gemini to deliver proactive fitness, wellness tips, and on-demand guidance, similar to Apple’s Workout Buddy.
Pixel Buds 2a and Pixel Buds Pro 2 Updates
Alongside the watch, Google launched the Pixel Buds 2a, priced at $129, making them a budget-friendly competitor to Apple’s AirPods.
These are the first A-series earbuds with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), offering enhanced sound quality, a custom speaker driver, and extended battery life. Designed for comfort, they feature a twist-to-adjust fit and IP54 water and sweat resistance.
Google also updated the Pixel Buds Pro 2, adding Adaptive Audio and Loud Noise Protection, features similar to Apple’s AirPods Pro lineup.
Pricing and Availability
The Pixel Watch 4 starts at $349, while the Pixel Buds 2a retail at $129, offering competitive pricing against Apple’s audio and wearable lineup.
