Google is finally bringing one of its most powerful AI features, Interactive Canvas, to the Google Gemini mobile app. Previously exclusive to the web version, this feature allows users to create webpages from documents, generate quizzes, write code, and even produce audio overviews, all directly from their smartphones.
What is the Google Gemini Canvas Feature?
The Canvas feature in Google Gemini is designed to make AI more interactive and creative. On the web version, users have been able to turn documents into webpages, generate infographics, develop simple apps, and produce audio summaries.
It’s essentially a creative AI workspace where ideas can be transformed into usable digital formats.
Until now, this feature was missing from the Gemini mobile app, forcing many users to rely on the web version despite having the app installed. That’s about to change.
Why It’s Coming to the Mobile App
According to a recent discovery by Android Authority, the beta version (16.31.75.sa.arm64) of the Google Gemini app shows signs of the Interactive Canvas feature being integrated. This upgrade means mobile users will soon be able to enjoy the same advanced AI tools without switching to their desktop browser.
How It Works on Mobile
When opening a document or list created using Canvas, users will notice a new “+” icon. Tapping on it will reveal options such as:
- Converting documents into fully functional webpages
- Creating infographics and quizzes
- Generating audio overviews
- Writing and testing code
- Experimenting with app creation
This integration will work using the smartphone’s on-device hardware for performance, but some features may still rely on cloud processing for better results.
Availability and Requirements
While the feature will be available to all users, Google AI Pro or Gemini Ultra subscribers will get full access to its capabilities. Free-tier users will still be able to try it, but with limited functionality.
The update is expected to roll out soon after beta testing, though Google has not given an official launch date. Once live, this upgrade will make Gemini far more versatile for Android users, especially for those who want AI-powered productivity on the go.
